SLAM IT! Monday night LHS auditorium
Submitted by Eve on Thu, 2012-05-10 10:52SLAM IT! The teen poetry slam will be held Monday, May 14, 6-8:30 PM at Loving High School auditorium. The public is invited to enjoy stirring performances of an art form burgeoning in international popularity. Poets in grades 8-12 will perform original work for amateur judges. Recognition is planned in three categories: open (non-competitive), open (competitive), and a premium prize category, "risks of underage drinking." Co-sponsored by Annella Flores, Carlsbad Community Anti-Drug/Gang Coalition, and prize donors. Free admission. For information call Eve, 575-642-4825.
MAD DOG is coming to town

John Beasley of Artesia Police Department, with sponsorship by Artesia Drug & Crime Coalition and Carlsbad Community Anti-Drug/Gang Coalition, Dale "Mad Dog" Messmer will visit Artesia and Carlsbad middle schools this month. He will make two presentations at Alta Vista Middle School on the morning of 15 May, and travel to PR Leyva Middle School for two afternoon presentations. To attend, please check in as a guest at the office of whatever venue you choose.
